Police-Based Services
Police receive thousands of calls for service every year, many requiring officers to perform various social service functions to maintain the overall welfare of community residents. Many police departments have partnered with or are moving toward utilizing social workers or counselors to efficiently connect residents to the best resources to meet their needs.
NEDFYS social workers and counselors are a support, not a substitute for police response when it is requested or when community safety requires it. Our partnership with police serves as a model for other communities who want to prevent crime, save lives, rebuild families, and restore hope.
NEDFYS provides the following services to our partner police departments:
-
Domestic Violence Follow-up: Immediate and ongoing assistance to victims and children in the home.
-
24/7 On-Call Crisis Intervention: Assistance with youth and adult mental health emergencies, domestic violence incidents, family conflict, juvenile cases, traumatic incidents and deaths, violent crime victims, substance use/overdoses, services for physically, mentally, and developmentally disabled individuals and senior citizens.
-
Crisis Intervention Follow-up: Immediate and ongoing services to individuals and families that have experienced mental health or another type of crisis.
